Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver medium‑scale acquisition and/or development projects within a complex, international environment. The role involves full ownership of project delivery, ensuring objectives are met in terms of scope, quality, cost, timelines, and stakeholder satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Take full accountability for the definition, planning, execution, and successful delivery of assigned projects
- Provide strong leadership and direction to cross‑functional project teams
- Select and apply appropriate project management methodologies, tools, and processes
- Manage risks, issues, and change control processes in line with established governance
- Develop, maintain, and monitor realistic project plans
- Ensure regular, accurate, and transparent project reporting to stakeholders
- Organize and oversee project and product quality reviews
- Ensure project deliverables are completed within agreed budget, schedule, and resource constraints and formally accepted
- Monitor performance against cost, time, quality, and resource baselines and take corrective actions as needed
Stakeholder Management
- Identify communication and engagement needs of all stakeholder groups
- Translate stakeholder engagement strategies into concrete actions and deliverables
- Facilitate open communication, collaboration, and decision‑making among stakeholders
- Act as the primary point of contact for the project
- Provide informed feedback to enhance mutual understanding
- Capture, consolidate, and disseminate technical and business information
Change & Contract Management
- Investigate, assess, and manage authorised changes to baselined requirements in accordance with change management policies
- Analyse the impact of change requests and advise stakeholders on implications
- Oversee the fulfilment of contractual obligations in coordination with assigned contract officers
- Monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators
- Identify improvement opportunities and address under‑performance or compliance issues
Additional Contributions
- Support higher‑level Project Managers across the full project lifecycle
- Produce accurate and timely project status reports
- Contribute specialist expertise to requirements definition and proposal development
- Share knowledge and best practices within the organisation
- Promote the effective use of digital tools, applications, and emerging technologies
- Maintain awareness of industry best practices and drive personal and team development
- Apply security, privacy, and ethical principles to all aspects of the work
Required Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university in a relevant discipline plus at least 3 years of related experience
OR- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of progressive and relevant professional experience
- At least 3 years of recent experience managing acquisition and/or development projects within a large organisation
- Strong command of project management tools, cost control, and resource planning
- Proven experience leading cross‑functional teams, preferably in an international context
- Solid experience in project administration, budgeting, and financial control
Certifications
- Recognised project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
- Formal certification may be substituted by proven expertise and experience
Desirable
- Experience managing complex acquisition projects in systems‑intensive environments
- Familiarity with project automation platforms and collaboration tools
- Knowledge of governmental or institutional acquisition and procurement procedures
- Experience working in multinational, multicultural, and mixed civilian/military environments
Working Conditions
- On‑site position based in Braine‑l’Alleud, Belgium
- Standard office environment
- Occasional business travel (approximately 1–2 times per month)
- Security clearance (Secret level) required

Although open to technologies used by our customers, ABAKUS IT-SOLUTIONS seeks mainly but not only consultants mastering: Windows and Linux Servers, networks, developments (JAVA, SAP, .NET,…) as well as highly specialized experts for example in cybersecurity or in Content Management System (CMS) (SharePoint, Drupal, WebLogic…).
In terms of non-technical competencies, ABAKUS IT-SOLUTIONS hires dynamic persons, open to the world, interested by innovation and having a keen sense of client relationship.
A very good command of English is essential, the capacity to speak French, German or Dutch is an asset.
Even though most of our positions require at least 3 years of experience, some are open to new starters.
