Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Service Engineer to join our team for an early engagement project. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in defining and managing requirements, overseeing systems development, and ensuring seamless systems integration and build processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements Definition and Management:

• Define and manage scoping, requirements definition, and prioritization activities for medium-sized and complex initiatives.
• Contribute to selecting the requirements approach.
• Facilitate input from stakeholders, provide constructive challenge, and enable effective prioritization of requirements.
• Establish requirements baselines, obtain formal agreement to requirements, and ensure traceability to source.

Systems Development Management:

• Plan and drive systems development projects supporting organizational objectives and plans.
• Select, adopt, and adapt appropriate systems development methods, tools, and techniques.
• Ensure stakeholders are aware of required resources and that they are made available.
• Facilitate the availability and optimum utilization of resources.
• Monitor and report on the progress of development projects.
• Ensure projects are carried out in accordance with agreed architectures, standards, methods, and tools, addressing security and privacy requirements.
• Develop roadmaps to communicate future development activity.

Systems Integration and Build:

• Provide technical expertise to enable the configuration of system components and equipment for systems testing.
• Collaborate with technical teams to develop and agree on system integration plans and report on progress.
• Define complex/new integration builds.
• Ensure that integration test environments are correctly configured.
• Design, perform, and report results of tests of the integration build.
• Identify and document system integration components for recording in the configuration management system.
• Recommend and implement improvements to processes and tools.

Additional Duties:

• Collaborate with and facilitate internal and external communication to fully document business needs and indicate solutions if required.
• Support the creation of requirements that meet the strategic needs of the business.
• Take responsibility for understanding client requirements, collecting data, supporting analysis, and problem resolution.
• Support coherence, standardization efforts, assure quality of products, and alignment across systems in the use of optimal technologies, leading to faster implementation and reduced maintenance costs.
• Contribute to early Solution Architecting team activities related to customer support for upcoming requirements.
• Act as the interface to the CTO Early Engagement to allow the smooth transition of customer requirements to the project teams.
• Maintain active links with customers.
• Promote and enforce outsourcing of commodity services.
• Promote transition from assets to services.
• Deputize for higher-grade staff if required.
• Perform other duties as may be required.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree from a nationally recognized/certified university in a related discipline and 2 years of post-related experience.
• Alternatively, at least 6 years of extensive and progressive expertise in duties related to the function of the post may compensate for the lack of a university degree.

Experience:

• Experience with drafting ICT design and/or software development and planning of system and software delivery for large projects.
• Experience in identifying and assessing new and emerging technologies and their adoption into larger systems.
• Experience in developing technology roadmaps considering emerging technology solutions.
• Experience managing relationships with technical stakeholders (internal and external).
• Proven ability to apply analytical and systems thinking to complex problems.
• Proven ability to moderate technical design-related discussions with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proven experience presenting complex technical concepts to diverse and sometimes non-technical audiences.

Desirable Experience:

• Proven ability in process analysis and design techniques, including needs assessment, specification development, planning, and gap analysis.
• Knowledge in The Open Group TOGAF, ArchiMate, ITIL, COBIT, CISSP, or equivalent.
• Knowledge and experience with Military systems requirement capture, analysis, and specifications.

Working Conditions:

• Normal office environment.
• May require travel to other sites within Belgium 1-2 times per month.
