About the Role
Join a forward‑thinking engineering environment as a Mid-Level DevOps Engineer, where you will play a key role in the evolution, operations, and optimization of a GitLab‑based development ecosystem. You will help maintain and enhance the GitLab platform for both internal teams and external users, ensuring high performance, smooth automation, and continuous improvement across all services.
This position is ideal for a DevOps professional with a strong background in GitLab, Terraform, AWS, CI/CD, and Python, who enjoys working in agile, collaborative teams and providing high‑quality technical support.
Your Responsibilities
1. Software Development & Platform Enhancement
- Integrate, test, maintain, and improve tools and components supporting the GitLab service offering.
- Write efficient, maintainable, and reusable code in collaboration with the team.
- Identify opportunities to optimize existing services and workflows.
- Develop unit and integration tests to secure code quality and deployment reliability.
2. Automation & CI/CD
- Use GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting skills to automate deployment, analysis, and operational tasks.
- Implement new automations to streamline configuration, monitoring, and delivery processes.
3. Team Collaboration
- Work closely with architects, system administrators, and developers to ensure seamless integration of services.
- Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, reviews).
- Contribute to shared team expertise through knowledge‑sharing initiatives.
- Handle operational tickets while respecting SLAs and KPIs.
4. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Thoroughly document code, scripts, and configurations for sustainability and clarity.
- Support the creation and maintenance of technical documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with GitLab (user), Terraform, AWS (EC2, Load Balancers, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, Networking, S3, API Gateway), CI/CD, and DevOps principles.
- Nice-to-have: GitLab (admin), Dynatrace, Prometheus, REST API design, Python.
Experience
- At least 5 years of experience as a DevOps engineer.
- Solid experience working within collaborative, agile development environments.
Soft Skills
- Strong communication skills—able to explain technical topics to all audiences.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous learning.
- Customer-oriented approach and problem-solving spirit.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
Mandatory Requirements
- EU citizenship.
- Fluency in English; other European languages are a plus.
- Availability to work in rotating shifts (07:00–20:00) and participate in mandatory on-call rotations (7 consecutive days including weekends).
- Early shift: 07:00–16:00
- Late shift: 11:00–20:00

Although open to technologies used by our customers, ABAKUS IT-SOLUTIONS seeks mainly but not only consultants mastering: Windows and Linux Servers, networks, developments (JAVA, SAP, .NET,…) as well as highly specialized experts for example in cybersecurity or in Content Management System (CMS) (SharePoint, Drupal, WebLogic…).

A very good command of English is essential, the capacity to speak French, German or Dutch is an asset.
