AISB-665 Senior Data Engineer (Alteryx)

At ABAKUS IT SOLUTIONS, we are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with a strong hands-on mindset and solid understanding of the banking domain. You will play a key role in delivering digital solutions, dashboards, and ad-hoc reporting for Corporate Banking users (Sales, Business teams, Management, etc.), while improving and modernizing existing data preparation workflows.

Your Role & Missions

After gaining a deep understanding of the existing systems, data flows, and business objectives, you will be responsible for enhancing and maintaining the data preparation environment feeding various visualization solutions.

• Optimize and refactor legacy Alteryx workflows by applying clean coding principles, centralizing logic, removing redundancies, and improving long-term maintainability.
• Progressively implement improvements across environments, validating impacts with users and ensuring no regression on downstream dashboards.
• Data Integration & Quality: Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to ingest data from multiple systems, ensuring reliability, correctness, and timely availability of new data sources.
• Design Simplification: Simplify data flows and architecture to reduce complexity and improve overall performance.
• Cleanup & Rationalization: Identify obsolete datasets, unused files, and abandoned workflows; refactor or retire them and help harmonize historization and retention rules.
• Macro & Component Design: Design, document, and maintain reusable Alteryx macros to reduce technical debt and ensure consistent transformation logic.
• Legacy Process Harmonization: Rationalize SAS and Alteryx coexistence by migrating useful transformations and eliminating outdated or duplicated components.
• Release & Deployment Support: Improve deployment and release processes by increasing automation, quality checks, and reliability.
• Documentation: Apply and reinforce documentation standards to ensure clear naming, descriptions, and shared understanding across squads.
• Monitoring & Operations: Set up monitoring to track data quality and performance, manage daily batch executions, and ensure synchronization across environments.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4–5 years of relevant experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
• Strong hands-on experience with data flows and data preparation techniques.
• Strong background in Alteryx or similar ETL tools.
• Excellent command of SQL, especially Transact-SQL.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g. SQL Server).
• Version control tools (Git, SVN). 
  
• Experience in the banking or financial sector is a strong advantage.
• Practical experience working in an Agile environment.
• Languages: Fluent English. - Fluent in Dutch or French (knowledge of the second local language is a plus).
