We are looking for a Mainframe Dev Engineer to join an Agile squad responsible for delivering robust and scalable solutions in a critical business domain. You will contribute to both RUN (operations) and CHANGE (enhancements) activities, ensuring continuity, performance, and long-term sustainability of Mainframe applications. Working in a collaborative Agile environment, you will go beyond your core expertise to support the team in delivering value at the end of each sprint, while also playing a key role in knowledge transfer and documentation.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end technical analysis (input/output/processing) for Mainframe applications
- Develop, maintain, and optimize applications using Cobol, DB2, IMS, JCL, and related technologies
- Design and implement solutions for both RUN and CHANGE activities
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and performance issues
- Ensure compliance with architecture, security, and operational standards
- Contribute to integration with distributed systems using middleware technologies (MQ, z/OS Connect, SOAP)
- Collaborate closely with Subject Matter Experts to ensure knowledge transfer and retention
- Create and maintain technical documentation and best practices
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (planning, refinement, retrospectives)
- Support smooth transitions in operations and minimize operational risks
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team
Your Profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Mainframe development
- Strong expertise in Cobol, DB2, IMS, JCL and Mainframe ecosystems
- Solid understanding of system architecture (hardware, OS, networking, databases, middleware)
- Experience with integration technologies (distributed systems and Mainframe)
- Good knowledge of development standards, tools, and security practices
- Strong experience working in Agile environments
- Good command of Dutch, French, and English (active knowledge of at least one, passive understanding of others)
