Position Context
A strategic desktop virtualization project is underway to provide a secure, efficient, and resilient End User Computing (EUC) environment. A VDI Engineer is sought to manage, optimize, and secure the VDI infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
VDI Infrastructure Management
- Install, configure, administer, and monitor VDI infrastructure.
- Work with Dell devices and Omnissa Horizon technologies (formerly VMware Horizon).
Operations and Administration
- Perform daily administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the VDI environment, including virtual infrastructure, application delivery, and user profile management.
- Install, configure, and upgrade existing and new VDI instances and associated components.
- Monitor performance using DEX tools and continuously optimize master (“golden”) images.
- Ensure a healthy and functional EUC environment.
Security and Compliance
- Ensure the infrastructure complies with security policies and functional requirements.
- Maintain compliance of associated technologies, such as Active Directory.
Incident and Service Management
- Resolve incidents and service requests using the ticketing system.
- Collaborate with the Incident Management team, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
- Design, implement, test, and maintain fault tolerance and disaster recovery solutions across the full VDI stack: virtual infrastructure, VDI layer, applications, and user profiles.
IT Operations Improvement
- Develop and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for VDI operations.
- Prepare and improve technical instructions for Level 1 and Level 2 technicians.
- Deliver on-the-job training to technical teams as required.
Candidate Profile
Technical Skills
- Group Policy Management (GPO): creation, modification, and maintenance.
- VMware Horizon: setup, configuration, and administration.
- VMware vSphere: virtual machines, ESXi hosts, and vCenter operations.
- VMware AppVolumes: deployment, management, updates, and troubleshooting.
- User environment and profile management: VMware DEM/UEM, FSLogix, MDT for master images.
ITSM Skills
- Incident management and collaboration.
- Knowledge of ITIL concepts; ITIL Foundation certification desirable.
Experience
- Proven experience managing and optimizing complex VDI environments.
- Ability to propose and implement business continuity and disaster recovery solutions.
Additional Information
- Security Clearance: NATO Secret required
Languages Required:
- Fluent French and English
