Are you passionate about turning data governance into tangible, measurable results? We are looking for a hands-on Data Governance Consultant who can design, implement, and embed sustainable governance frameworks within complex organizations.
This is not a purely strategic role, it’s about making governance work in practice.
Your Mission
You will design and implement a scalable, business-driven data governance model, ensuring that roles, responsibilities, and processes are clearly defined, adopted, and embedded into daily operations. A key part of your mission will be translating governance concepts into actionable workflows within a modern data catalog environment (e.g. Colibra).
Your Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a pragmatic data governance framework, including ownership and stewardship models
- Structure data domains and define related data assets in a clear and scalable way
- Establish accountability, decision-making frameworks, and escalation paths
- Develop lean and effective governance processes (e.g. onboarding, ownership changes, data quality management)
- Configure and operationalize governance structures within a data catalog tool
- Collaborate closely with business, IT, and governance stakeholders to ensure alignment and adoption
- Deliver clear documentation and support a smooth transition into ongoing operations
What Makes This Role Unique
- Strong focus on implementation and operationalization, not just strategy
- Direct impact on how data is managed, owned, and governed across the organization
- A key role at the intersection of business, IT, and governance
What You Bring
- Proven experience in implementing data governance frameworks in real-world environments
- Strong understanding of governance roles such as Data Owner, Data Steward, and Governance Office
- Hands-on experience with data catalog tools, ideally Colibra
- Ability to connect business, organizational, and technical perspectives
- A pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset with a strong focus on outcomes
Nice to Have
- Experience in regulated industries or complex environments
- Knowledge of data quality governance practices
- Familiarity with domain-driven governance approaches
Your Way of Working
- Execution-driven and results-oriented
- Able to simplify complex topics and bring structure
- Strong communication skills across business, IT, and leadership levels
- Self-organized, proactive, and accountable
Additional Information
- Location: Wolfsburg (20% onsite) / 80% remote (onshore within Germany)
- A permanent employment (employee) setup is preferred
- Very good German language skills are mandatory
